Which one of you, at least once in life, have never dreamt of being the girl that kissed passionately Robbie Williams in the video of “Eternity”? This is one of the most romantic song of this artist. This track was not featured on the album” Sing when you are winning”(released in 2000), but it was released in the summer of 2001 backed with
another song "The Road to Mandalay", these had been written by Williams
( helped by , nowadays ex, collaborator Guy Chambers) in what he called "the most amazing summer".
After years of non-stop work Robbie took a month off and recorded “Eternity”; when it was released it became his fourth number-one single in the United Kingdom, selling over 70,000 copies in its first week in the UK alone, and also hit the top ten hit all over Europe.
“Eternity” is a ballad made entirely with piano and acoustic guitar that reminds the style of another and most famous song of Robbie: Angels that was used by film maker Vaughan Arnell ( that made also the video of this song)as a soundtrack for one of his films.
Rumours has it that “Eternity” had been written about Robbie's then girlfriend, Geri Halliwell. whether it was true or not, it sure boasted the sales.
Robert brought this song on for his world tour in the autumn of 2001. There were two available versions out of “Eternity”, the 'full length' version, and the 'orchestral' version
( that could be found in the swing cd single of “ Something Stupid”)
The girl in the video of this song was Lisa Seiffert an Australian model from Brisbane and it was taken in a beautiful seaside place.
Both song and video move me every time: for an hopeless romantic like me is the best I can see!
In the video, that began with the last scenes of the short story that had been told, there were frequent feedbacks of the life of this young man
n one side there’s his life without problems with a girl he loves : they made parties, they played golf and tennis and had good time, on the other hand he was involved in dirty affairs like robbery and stuffs like that, it seemed it was told the life of a chief of a criminal band and it was presented in private with sentimental aspects and in dark sides regarding his “job”.
I’m not in Robert’s mind nor in the mind of the director but it seems that it was described in this video the “ bad brother” that he sometimes talk about I mean the dark side that is in everyone that lives with the good one, it is represented the duality of the soul; the choice between the good and the bad.
At the end of the video the guy was arrested but the police let him gave his last goodbye to the girl leaving him kissing her passionately … and is there that every time a tear come out of my eye
