Robbie Williams' football ambition

Pop star Robbie Williams has revealed he would rather be a footballer than a singer.

The Stoke-on-Trent-born musician admits choosing the wrong career on a television chat show.

Williams appears with ex-England coach Terry Venables on the Friday Night With Jonathan Ross programme to talk about their forthcoming involvement in Soccer Aid.

Port Vale fan Robbie captains the England team, which is managed by Venables.

Williams said: "I love football, I`m so passionate about it, I`d rather be a footballer than a singer."

But he admitted being unable to match the fitness of his opposing captain, Gordon Ramsay, who leads the Rest of the World team, managed by former Chelsea and Newcastle United boss Ruud Gullit.

"I was shamed into starting the training," the singer said.

"I`d been out on a late one, switched the TV on to see Gordon Ramsay finishing the marathon. He`s really competitive, a great fella, I want to be him."

Venables, on the other hand, talked about his ambitions to be a singer.

He told the host: "I`d like to have been a singer, I sang with Joe Loss (but) they`d say, stick to the football."

How good was the Jonathan Ross interview? He was so funny and looked relaxed and happy which is all we want isnt it? The spray tan incident is hilarious as well, I was wondering why he was suddenly so brown!

OMG didnt he look gorgeous! even with the fake tan (which I quite liked) and he was really relaxed and was his usual funny self. Recorded it last night as I was out and watched it when hubby went out as I would not of got any peace.

I love his longer jackets, there well sexy. Been trying to get my hubby one since 'the robbie williams show' but none to be had anywhere. Loads of people have told me he looks like Rob, so i'm trying to dress him the same ;)
