View Full Version : Poems - From Afar
MjWings 10-05-2006, 11:28 AM "You're a shining star
I admire you from afar
Every day a light you bring
When I turn on the radio and hear you sing.
Unknowingly, so many you touch
And to them, that mean so much
You help me soar, let me fly
Help break through the walls, let me cry
You're there in my darkest night
Gently helping me, back to the light.
I don't envy you your glory and fame
Always a target, always fair game
They say you're over-rated
But I love you ... maybe I'm jaded
Together you and I - we share laughter and we cry
But always there as time passes by.
I love who you are now
You've come so far & before you ... I bow
You are the greatest in my eyes
I look and see beyond the lies
At times the odds stacked against you
I'm always here, I'll help you through.
From my heart - this wish for you
May you always to your dreams be true
And when you're alone, feeling blue
May God and His Angels carry you through
May your soul soar and be lifted so high
Grab the moment! Don't let it go by!
Don't hesitate, please stay strong
Because with the stars - YOU BELONG"
MjWings 10-24-2006, 04:11 AM I wrote this little poem last night as I worked on my fiction ... it's something fun & with all the hype with the release of Rob's anticipated album, this is what I would imagine him say:
The new album is called “Rudebox”
I bet it’s gonna blow your socks off
Digging deep into my memory
Going back to my history.
The songs are tongue-in-the cheek
Maybe not for the mellow and meek
I’d hate for you to find me a bore
That’s why, in the lyrics, I swore.
All the anger, all my frustration
For my soul, so long, a mutilation
Now I’m free like a bird
No more dark secrets that lurk.
The songs on the album will make you smile
Let you forget about your worries for a while
So come on, allow me to entertain,
In your hearts and minds, I wanna remain.
So as you listen to me sing and wrap
For some of you it will sound like crap
Just know that I’ll probably not give a toss
It’s my salvation … and your loss.
MjWings 02-14-2007, 05:33 PM I was outside in the garden when I got from work and took pencil and paper with ... this is what "came out" - I hope you like it.
An Angel By His Side
Too long you’ve carried your heavy load
Scared and alone on this darkest road
Don’t be afraid, don’t you fear
I’m your Angel, I’m always near.
For now everything seem dark and cold
No one near, no one to hold
I’ll be here by your side
Safe in my arms you can hide
I’ll be here to wipe away your tears
I will calm all your doubts and fears.
When you find yourself in the dark of night
Rest assured – I will bring you the light
Your life journey not yet done
My promise to you – it’s just begun.
MjWings 02-14-2007, 05:35 PM Never Alone …
I’m your Angel, I’ll always be
You are so precious and special to me
When it was my turn to pick someone
I turned to the Lord; “I choose him. He’s the one.”
He nodded slowly and seemed surprised
“I know your reason … your choice is wise.
You see my Son; he has a special place,
In his life, many doubts and fears he will face.
But he is a warrior, his spirit strong
In the sky with the stars, he’ll belong.
He is gentle, his emotions run deep
His road will sometimes be steep.
He’ll always be guided, he’ll have the light
Shining brightly even in the darkest night.
I give him his own Angel of Peace and Love
He’ll never want for anything, he’ll have enough.
He’ll grow and become a beacon of light,
For those that stumble in the dreary night.
Take his hand, lead him along,
On this journey where he belongs.
Ease his doubts, take away his fear
Let him know that you’ll always be near.
Watch over him … will you my son?”
MjWings 12-17-2007, 06:50 AM A poem for someone I admire greatly ...
JOURNEY OF HOPE
Equality has never been so strong a word
Since your arrival in this fucked-up world
Reminder of other’s pain, the needless sorrow
Nations humbled, forced to steal, beg and borrow
A promise today of better times to come
If we stand together, when we unite as one.
Never too late to take on a task
To finally free us from the past
Many words spoken, promises given
A chance for others to go on living
Children’s sweet laughter, no more tears
Death and hunger … no more a mother’s fears.
A rock star’s loud and insistent song
Carry a message, enough! It’s been too long
Why then, in a world with so much
Do we turn away; ignore our neighbour’s touch?
Let go of ignorance, ego and stupid fear,
Remember the message; let your voice be clear.
African continent his work of choice
Giving the sick, hungry and poor his unmistakable voice
The journey long, its just begun
Remember the ancient truth … we are all ONE
A man of wisdom, a man with soul
Everyone equal … his only goal.
