Stories around the Lyrics
Ghosts

Looks like Robbie Williams can't let sleeping dogs lie.He has taken a stab at archenemy Liam Gallagher by writing a song about Nicole Appleton.

In case you'd forgotten, Nicole is Liam's missus but she was once engaged to the Robster..And Liam once called Robbie a "fat dancer from Take That".

The singer says his song Ghosts, on new album Intensive Care, is about his time with Nicole.

And as well as referencing their bedroom antics, it has the lyrics.

"I don't need you but I'm lost lost without you tonight"

Robbie is certainly not afraid to let the odd skeleton out of his closet. To make matters worse, he envisages Liam's reaction when he hears the lyrics: "It'll really fry the balding, pot bellied sh**thead."

This is pretty sure to make feisty Liam mad for it.Robbie. You're on thin ice.

Ghosts
By Robbie Williams

Here I stand victorious
The only man who made you come
When you cried, you cried for us
And when we died, you died alone
Gravity's calling
Don't go home
Where are we

Did what I could
For one of us
I always thought it was for you
And when I lied
Oh I lied for us
Because you never heard the truth
I am lying alone tonight
Don't go home
Where are we

If we are ghosts
(A long long time ago)
It looks like we could have made it baby
We are ghosts
(A long long time)
Me and you
We are ghosts
(A long long time ago)
We could have made it
We are ghosts
(A long long time)
Me and you
(Ago)

Look at the time its taken me
To get away from what was said
I'll never leave
I'll always love
You know that all those words are dead
Buried in yours tonight
Move aside
I'm taking you home

On the radio
She was that summer song
Packing them in
Making them dance
A law of her own
Taking the time to sing it
I don't need you
But I'm lost
I'm lost without you tonight
Have you no heart
Where are we
(Everybody sing it)

Ghosts
We love like ghosts
We are ghosts
They're taking down our satellite
We are ghosts
Josephine
I'll follow your star tonight
We are ghosts
If not tonight
Then when will she say
(Everybody sing it)
We're not ghosts

Thanx for that. Saw him sing it on Jool Holland on You Tube, wondered who it was about.

I don't believe a word of that, sounds like another made up tabloid gossip story http://www.cheesebuerger.de/images/smilie/boese/a030.gif

From the official site

Ghosts - Throughout the recording of ?Intensive Care?, Robbie was revisiting a lot of his favourite songs from the 1980s, particularly the Human League's ?Louise?, about a man who sees a former lover at the bus stop and realises he still has deep feelings for her. With ?Ghosts?, Robbie wanted to write Louise's response, and so this freewheeling melody is drenched in lost-love pinings and the very sweetest melancholy. The vocal harmonies in the chorus, meanwhile, which are almost hymnal, enhance its emotional clout exponentially.

And his first love (whose name escapes me, and has recently married) reckoned this song was about her.

Rob never said - in an interview he just let the interviewer have a guess and neither agreed nor disagreed with her assumptions.

i reckon he supposedly said it was about nicole just to get liams back up. lets face it the opening lines are enough to get any man annoyed if its written about there present partner especially their Imminent wife!!!
