View Full Version : Robbie Williams to appear on BBC show 'So you think you can dance'
Think you can do it, Robbie?
15 January 2010
LET'S hope it's third time lucky for Robbie Williams when he performs live on So You Think You Can Dance. The star's big return to TV on X Factor last year was hugely hyped - only for him to botch it TWICE. First, the singer got stuck backstage when a door failed to open. And the second time he missed his cue when performing his biggest hit Angels.
Now he's planning to give the BBC1 dance hit a try. A source told TV Biz: "Robbie just wants it to go smoothly. "It would be nice if his new fiancée Ayda Field could see him pull it off without a hitch."
Mika, JLS and Alexandra Burke will also be appearing on the show.

TheMissus 01-15-2010, 08:12 AM I think anyone would have struggled to sing along to the version of Angels they did on x-factor. It was butchered so much that it was almost unrecognisable!!!! And I see they don't mention the perfect performance of You Know Me on the same show :foottap:
rant over. I wonder when Robbie is on this new dance show? Can't find a date mentioned anywhere
nina loves robbie 01-15-2010, 09:59 AM 15th jan thats today well lets see how much of this is true
TheMissus 01-15-2010, 03:43 PM 15th jan thats today well lets see how much of this is true
I think that is just the date of the news report ;)
jayne64 01-15-2010, 05:58 PM I hope he doesn't do this 'cos i'll have to sit through a whole episode just to see him :sarahg:
tasha 01-31-2010, 07:56 PM Just found this on trws:
Leona Lewis has been confirmed to perform on the So You Think You Can Dance semi-final.
The 2006 X Factor winner and multi-platinum selling singer will perform her new single 'I Got You' on the February 6 results show.
Alexandra Burke, JLS and Lemar have already appeared on the BBC One dance show during the earlier rounds. Robbie Williams is confirmed to perform at the grand final, which airs on February 13.
The final eight contestants - Alastair Postlethwaite, Charlie Bruce, Robbie White, Drew McOnie, Lizzie Gough, Mandy Montanez, Tommy Franzén and Yanet Fuentes - are competing for the title of Britain's Favourite Dancer, £100,000 and the chance to perform on the US version of the show.
SYTYCD airs on Saturday at 6.30pm on BBC One.
Right, I assume this is a live show? Or is it pre-recorded? If it is a live show, then I am wondering whether Robbie will actually make his own wedding on the 14th!!! Unless, he's to marry in the UK maybe????

Maybe he not marry on 14th :monkey:
No one has confirmed the wedding for this day. I don't think that it is pre-recorded... I think it is live.
TheMissus 02-01-2010, 11:35 AM I thought it was another public vote show, so it can't be pre-recorded?
Betty 02-01-2010, 11:44 AM It's the final of a dance contests....I don't know if it can be pre -recorded but I guess it can :8b:
babyxxx 02-01-2010, 05:09 PM robbie a dancer :) ... but the next day should not marry?

It’s definitely a public vote; I just caught the end last night when Cat Deeley announced that Robbie would be on next week.
He’ll be ‘working’ on his birthday…
melnavan 02-07-2010, 11:00 AM Yaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaay, more Rob.

I worked on my birthday :laura:
I worked on my birthday :laura:
Yep same here… just another ‘normal’’ working day…:re:
I’m more surprised that he is appearing on this type of show. I don’t live in the UK but I didn’t think it had the same appeal and audience viewing figures as X Factor or even Strictly Come Dancing…:search:

nupica 02-13-2010, 08:53 AM Trio step up for dance show finale
Three twinkle-toed wannabes will battle it out on Saturday night as they aim to be crowned champion of TV talent show So You Think You Can Dance.
The line-up is one down after one finalist, Robbie White, was forced to pull out with just hours to go after dislocating a shoulder ahead of the BBC1 final.
Now just Charlie Bruce, Tommy Franzen and Lizzie Gough will compete for the £100,000 prize and the chance to perform on the US version of the show in Hollywood.
White was told his injury may take months to heal properly and he was disappointed to have got so far in the contest only to be derailed by an accident.
But he has said he will be in the studio watching. He said: "It will be very hard being there and not being part of it, but I definitely want to be there, to come out and have a chance to say my piece, say thanks."
The finale of the seven-week series will see Robbie Williams performing his next release Morning Sun, which is the official Sport Relief single and released next month.
Three competitors who have been booted off the show in recent weeks - Alastair Postlethwaite, Mark Calape and Drew McOnie - will take White's place for partnered dances.
The final, presented by Cat Deeley and featuring panellists such as Arlene Phillips and Nigel Lythgoe, will be screened on BBC1 at 7.45pm.

SO YOU THINK YOU CAN DANCE
13th February 2010 BBC1, 6.45pm, 8.35pm
OK, cards-on-the-table time. The truth is, I have no idea what’s been going on in this show for the past month or so.
I watched it for the first couple of weeks, found it curiously unmoving and have happily steered clear ever since. So why mention it again now? Because it’s the final, that’s why – and I guess I feel some kind of professional obligation to draw your attention to this.
There are two girls and two guys left in contention, apparently – and one of them will finish the night £100,000 better off. They’ll also get to perform on the US version of the show, which they’ll be suitably thrilled about. Cat Deeley is our host, while Robbie Williams will pop up to perform his latest single, helping pad the whole thing out even further.

allison 02-13-2010, 08:33 PM Brilliant performance! really entertaining and looking gorgeous as well!!!
My HDI Player has been down all evening, but came back right before his performance - yeahhhhh! And what a performance, good old Robbie back (with the brown shoes). did a killer performance, even did a medly of all his dance moves including riverdance :yay: He sang so well and chatted to the audience all the way through the song. How great did he look? He's obviously slimmed down quite a lot.
Hello Louise 02-13-2010, 08:57 PM Hope Rob is OK..I hear he hurt himself on this show..:(..plus i didnt see it :(

Yeah that’s what I said too a few posts back. I was really surprised when it was confirmed. Well he certainly raised the show’s profile …and increased his ‘’younger’’ and ‘’older’’ fan base… will have to watch it again in the morning to check Jerry’s face :wl:
Teenager crowned dance show winner
Published Date: 13 February 2010
Teenage dancer Charlie Bruce has been crowned champion of TV talent show So You Think You Can Dance. The 19-year-old from Leicester burst into tears when host Cat Deeley revealed she had won the most votes from the public on the BBC1 talent contest.
She said she would "never forget" the experience after winning the £100,000 prize and the chance to perform in Hollywood. An emotional Charlie said she was "absolutely speechless", fighting back the tears to add: "Thank you so much. I did it." Tommy Franzen came second, while Lizzie Gough came third after an action-packed final which saw the three finalists take to the stage for six routines each.
Pop star Robbie Williams also performed his new single Morning Sun, which is the official Sport Relief single and released next month.
Judge Nigel Lythgoe praised Charlie's "journey" and said she "grew" throughout the series."I think Charlie edged it tonight," he said. "I am going to be so delighted to take her to America and show her to everybody." Asked what she would remember about the competition, Charlie replied: "Absolutely everything. I will never forget this."

ozzieluvrobbie 02-14-2010, 04:04 AM Oh wow, thankyou for that link. Someone's looking very comfortable in his own skin. Relaxed and adlibbing, I love it!!!
He must have flipped a coin - either the brown shoes goes or the quiff - I'm happy with the result. I like his whole styling, he's hot in tight jeans.
Love the way he adapts his performance to the kind of show he's on and at the same time takes the piss - remember his posing on Miss France? He's just excellent at easing up on the seriousness of things. I just hope he knows where and when to do it - the Brits is not the place next week!
Sadly the clip hasn't got the little after-interview.... he was so charming.

Wasn’t she also a children TV presenter? Or CD UK or something like that? I remember her from years ago when we lived in the UK. (And that’s 10 years ago!) I’m sure there is a clip with her and Robbie in the download section. Or that they dated or something…or am I getting her mixed up with Tess Daly…they all look the same :re:

Yep - CDUK and SMTV Live with Ant n Dec, Wonkey Donkey et al. although a kids program there were many an adult switching on Sat. am. (hangover TV) :jackie: It was great, really funny and Cat was far more natural a presenter than i saw last nite! No doubt there will be something picture wise with Rob because of the program/A&D but i'm pretty sure there was no romantic evolvement - i think her private life is kept well hidden, did i hear she bats for the same team?? I can't remember precisely.
What a shame she hasn't adapted back her presenting style.

he has been wearing lots of jackets and tops that are to small
for him dont know why but he does still look fab in tight clothes

guardagabriella 02-14-2010, 12:28 PM Great performane !!!! Simply perfect :ok:

LMAO that's what I thought too, the jacket looked too small. The short sleeves is a not a good look neither are those horrid brown shoes, sorry Lennon :) And the jeans are way too short for my taste.. I loved when he wore those long ass jeans from the good old days.
RobbiesMonkey 02-14-2010, 02:47 PM Where do you start. I thought the singing was pretty good. The ad libing is pretty much what we're used too. The dancing..yikes. Please don't do that anymore Rob. It's like those drunk guys at weddings who think they are dancing awesomely and the rest of the people are like "WTF?"
And I didn't care for the whole outfit. His hair and face were nice though.
I don't think his dancing was meant to be good - he was clearly going for looking goofy. Whitch is OK for a show like that. His singing was great, that song so suits his voice - so much that he can relax and goof around while singing it. I enjoyed the performance so much, and as I said before, I loved his whole look, including the brown shoes - I think they are really nice with jeans. But if I should pic my fave look of him this season it has to be the one from the T4 show. Relaxed but stylish, 10/10.

I haven’t heard that expression for years
Thanks for info Jayne & Lennon – my kids back then were into Live& Kicking…
I think the ‘’dance like your Dad’’ routine was just a bit of fun and in the context of the show :wl: I never noticed the jacket...I went from his shoes to his face...
tasha 02-14-2010, 07:52 PM Managed to watch the show at lunchtime, once hubby and son were out of the way and can watch in peace!!
I luuuurved it. I thought Robbie was on top form and loved his funny dancing. I liked his clothes too and not sure why people say they dont fit him and are too small, think they fit him fine - we are used to seeing wearing longer jackets.
jayne64 02-14-2010, 07:56 PM He was taking the mick with the dancing! It was meant to look bad. I think from reading around the forums some people have misread his sense of humour - again, lost in translation so to speak.
Like mon says it was a dancing show, so he messed around doing different types of dance badly, it's humourous and a little rude hence his cheeky chappy tag.

I'd love to see him on Dancing on ice. lol.
Mariella 02-14-2010, 08:42 PM why do you say he cant`t dance:ohhh:
i can never understand why people mock him about his dancing, he doesn`t like to dance after a choreography, but that doesn`t mean you can`t dance, i think he can move his body very well , he is agile ,has feeling for rhythm and i like looking at him while dancing/ moving to music.....usually it looks sexy and not laughable:rf4l:....don`t tell me now i see things through rose-coloured glasses...

GirlFromOz 02-14-2010, 10:35 PM I loved it.....Rob at his best & looking the happiest & most relaxed ever!!
The dance moves were hilarious...from the charleston to riverdance & some TT moves thrown in for good measure. LOL
Don't know why some think his jacket was too small, seemed to fit him OK in my eyes. He was hitching up his jeans, so maybe he's lost weight. He reminds me of a lumberjack in the straight jeans & the desert boots, all he needs is a check shirt!!!!
