All the latest news and updates on this within this thread
1974
released sept 18th 2006
On the report relased page (http://www.emigroup.com/Press/2006/press23.htm)on EMI music website, there is a quote about the rumored Robbie's new album:
We have exciting release schedules planned for both divisions with new music expected from a diverse range of artists. From EMI Music we expect releases from Tiziano Ferro, Janet Jackson, Norah Jones, Joss Stone, The Beatles, KT Tunstall, Keith Urban, Hikaru Utada and Robbie Williams amongst others.
This could make this rumors almost official if associated with what the Pet Shop Boys declarated in an interview on BBC radio this week that they'd worked on two tracks for Robbie's new album.

EMI on song as it forecasts more revenue growth
By Dan Sabbagh
EMI, the world?s third-biggest music company, predicted that it would continue to increase revenues this year, throwing down the gauntlet to its rival Warner Music. The British company still wants to buy Warner ? although it was deliberately tight-lipped about its plans yesterday ? but is hoping that its financial performance will demonstrate that there is no urgency to complete a deal.
Eric Nicoli, the executive chairman, said that he thought that the company could ?grow sales? for the second year running ? as it begins to reap the benefits from the shift to digital downloading.
Music sales peaked six years ago, and tumbled as illegal downloading through websites threatened to damage the music industy. However, a spate of successful lawsuits have quashed the threat and digital is now seen as a source of greater profit.
This year EMI is banking on releases from Norah Jones, Janet Jackson, Robbie Williams and another Beatles compilation to maintain momentum, after reporting a return to full-year growth for the first time since 2001.
Group revenues were up 3.9 per cent in the year to March 30 at £2.08 billion, and 2.1 per cent on a constant currency basis, helped by 9.9 million in album sales from Coldplay?s X&Y, coupled with big hits from Robbie Williams and Gorillaz, each of whom sold more than five million copies.
Mr Nicoli said that he ?continued to be interested in doing a deal with Warner to create value for shareholders?, but added little else. EMI?s $4.5 billion cash and shares bid this month for Warner was rejected unanimously.
Warner Music shares were down 14 cents at $27.01, their lowest level since EMI?s initial bid ? priced at $28.50 a share ? was spurned. That suggests that EMI?s patience has at least succeeded in acting as a cap on the Warner Music share price. EMI shares, meanwhile, added 3½p to close at 263¾p.
EMI?s thinking remains that Warner Music?s venture capital shareholders ? Thomas H. Lee, Bain and Providence ? need an exit and that the British company is the only obvious buyer. Meanwhile, if EMI can deliver on the promise of sales growth, that will keep up the pressure on Warner, whose own revenues fell in the six months to March.
The British group revealed operating margins advanced from 11.2 per cent to 12 per cent in the year to March, helped by the growth in more profitable digital sales. Pre-tax profits were £118.1 million, up from £98.8 million last year.
Mr Nicoli predicted that ?long-term? margins would improve further as digital takes off, implying that he expected no dramatic improvement this year, because the new technology required heavy initial investment.
Group digital sales leapt 139 per cent to £112.1 million. Digital downloading accounted for 5.5 per cent of sales of recorded music, and 7.2 per cent in the first three months of 2006 ? a figure that is well behind the 10 per cent achieved by Warner Music and Universal. Nicoli blamed the shortfall on the company?s weak presence in America, where it ranks fourth, comfortably behind Warner Music, because the United States is the ?most advanced digital market in the world?. However, EMI said that it had gained a percentage point of market share in North America to 10.3 per cent over the past 12 months, although much of its 2005 American performance was based on the success of Coldplay and veteran acts, such as the Rolling Stones.
Global market share edged up slightly to 13.1 per cent.

New Robbie Album Finished
Robbie Williams has finished his dance album, rumoured to include songs made with Pet Shop Boys and William Orbit.
"He's the quickest musician I've worked with" his co-writer Stephen Duffy said at the Ivors. "Robbie only started it at christmas and it's all done"
Duffy added: "I've co-written two songs on it. It's going to surprise the hell out of people, some of it's proper floor-to-the-floor dance music"

NEIL TENNANT has been dropping hints on what to expect when we hear the tracks the PET SHOP BOYS have recorded for ROBBIE WILLIAMS? new dance album.
He said: ?We?ve done two songs with Robbie. It sounds really good. We haven?t really written with anyone before.?
Neil described the album as ?electronic dance.?
I told you last month how Robbie was inspired to try a new dance style by KYLIE MINOGUE.
It will be out in August.

Gothic 05-29-2006, 01:10 AM I have to admit that I'm not into Dance music as much as I used to be.
I'm keeping an open mind about the new album. When it's released, I will decide then if I like it or not.

Yes apparently so, it's a ''Dance'' Album http://www.cheesebuerger.de/images/smilie/konfus/a070.gif according to the media that is http://www.cheesebuerger.de/images/smilie/konfus/c035.gif but don't believe everything they write or print http://www.cheesebuerger.de/images/smilie/frech/c055.gif especially anything to do with Robbie http://www.cheesebuerger.de/images/smilie/konfus/c040.gif

Thanks.
joanne 05-31-2006, 07:08 PM whether this appears or not remains to be seen, but it would be amusing if it did
Vicky D 05-31-2006, 07:33 PM So if this new Album does come out in August, do you think we will see some of it live during the back end of his European tour i.e. in the UK?
joanne 05-31-2006, 07:37 PM wouldnt have thought so, he tends to keep projects separate... but then again, I have no idea... he changes his mind like he changes his pants
SpookyGal 06-19-2006, 01:36 PM I've just read on a French forum that two girls spoke with him at his hotel in Paris. He said that a new album would come out in 2007. He also said he didn't enjoy touring. :(

TheMissus 06-19-2006, 01:58 PM But we know he doesn't like touring http://www.cheesebuerger.de/images/midi/konfus/c022.gif
For all his saying he's gonna try and enjoy it this time, I guess its one of those things you either like or don't. We'll just have to show him lots of love and encouragement to make it bearable http://www.cheesebuerger.de/images/midi/liebe/a054.gif
Laura 06-19-2006, 02:01 PM He seems to enjoy himself on stage. Maybe it's the travelling and other parts that are so hard. He needs some selfconfidence. He needs to read PureRobbie

That's what I was thinking because when he was on Jonathan Ross the last time he said he was really looking forward to the tour. Well we all know he changes mood like he changes pants. lol
TheMissus 06-19-2006, 03:03 PM He's probably still finding his touring feet. After all, he's only done 4 (he has just done 4 hasnt he http://www.cheesebuerger.de/images/midi/konfus/c062.gif )
I can't imagine how nerve-wracking it must be to pop up infront of 60,000 + screaming fans http://www.cheesebuerger.de/images/midi/konfus/c010.gif

Robbie's new album - 1974 - sounds awesome
Ok, so it's my first post and i know how people feel when a newbie comes along and tries to give some news but so be it. After what i thought was a bit of a let down (Intensive Care) Robbie is back with what is to be an amazing album. I cannot wiat for this to be released. The album has a working title of 1974 and so far i've only heard 6 tracks but they are amazing and if 'Lovelight' is not released there is no justice in this world ha ha. This song is superb - wait until you hear it - it is Robbie at his best. Other tracks i've heard are 2 rap style tracks called The 80's and The 90's - not too hard to work out what they are about but they certainly open your eyes to how he was feeling during the Take That days and how he felt towards Nigel - one lyric explains how he would like to take a Stanley Knife to his eyes !!!! 2 more amazing songs are The Actor - superb track and Rudebox. This is Robbie back at his most creative I think and whether you believe it or not, i'll be waiting when it is released to hear your comments, much love xxx "
tasha 06-26-2006, 06:56 PM Read this on that site too but wasnt sure I was allowed copy the post to this site. Looking forward to this. He certainly been a busy man!
shell 06-26-2006, 07:25 PM There seems to be an unwritten law between fansites that text can be copied if fully sourced - exclusives and images usually carry a note saying if you can or cant - if in doubt contact the admin - but as i see it its ok as long as its fully sourced :)
Laura 06-26-2006, 07:32 PM I read this too and wondered if it was a fake. I do have a cynical nature so I don't know. Would love to hear some of the tracks.
Vicky D 06-26-2006, 09:40 PM OOO eerrr.....I wonder how Rob will feel about some of this being leaked if it is true?
Bit of a strange post http://www.cheesebuerger.de/images/smilie/konfus/c010.gif I don't think any fansite would object to a newbie posting up Robbie news http://www.cheesebuerger.de/images/smilie/konfus/n010.gif It could be an ''intended'' leak, a sort of test to see the fans reactions etc but without a named source I tend to take this type of post with a pinch of salt http://www.cheesebuerger.de/images/smilie/konfus/c045.gif
TheMissus 06-27-2006, 06:38 AM It could be an ''intended'' leak, a sort of test to see the fans reactions etc
this was my first thought when I saw this yesterday
Laura 06-27-2006, 06:41 AM If this is true they are obviously reading fan sites. Perhaps they have seen the other gripes posted ie. the official site. They have also seen all the positive posts too. We can hope.

William Orbit 1999William Orbit (sometimes written as William Ørbit, born on 30 July (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/July_30) 1956 (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/1956), as William Wainwright) is a British (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/British) musician (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Musician) and record producer (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Record_producer), perhaps best known to most for his work on Madonna (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Madonna_%28entertainer%29)'s album Ray of Light (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ray_of_Light)</I>, which received four Grammy Awards (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Grammy_Award). He has also co-produced several unreleased Madonna songs (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Unreleased_Madonna_Songs) originally recorded for other albums that were never used. Also, he produced "13 (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/13_%28album%29)" by Blur (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Blur), and remixed some of the songs on the album.
His speciality is atmospheric keyboard (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Keyboard_instrument) electronica (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Electronica) although much of his work features accomplished guitar (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Guitar) playing. He has also recorded several largely instrumental solo albums under the name Strange Cargo (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Strange_Cargo) which features vocals by Beth Orton (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Beth_Orton), Laurie Mayer (http://en.wikipedia.org/w/index.php?title=Laurie_Mayer&action=edit) and Cleo Torres (http://en.wikipedia.org/w/index.php?title=Cleo_Torres&action=edit) among others. He was the musical force behind Bassomatic (http://en.wikipedia.org/w/index.php?title=Bassomatic&action=edit) in the early 1990s (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/1990s), and formed the band Torch Song (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Torch_Song) together with Mayer, Grant Gilbert (http://en.wikipedia.org/w/index.php?title=Grant_Gilbert&action=edit) and Rico Conning (http://en.wikipedia.org/w/index.php?title=Rico_Conning&action=edit) in the 1980s (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/1980s). He has also produced and remixed numerous other artists. Orbit's remixes carry his signature electronic sounds and techniques, making them sought after by fans of his solo work. He also worked with pop girl trio Sugababes (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Sugababes).

Pet Shop Boys are an English (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Great_Britain) electronic (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Electronic_music)/pop music (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Pop_music) duo, consisting of Neil Tennant (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Neil_Tennant) (b. 10 July (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/July_10) 1954 (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/1954)) who provides main vocals (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Vocals), keyboards (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Keyboard_instrument) and very occasionally guitar (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Guitar), and Chris Lowe (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Chris_Lowe) (b. 4 October (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/October_4) 1959 (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/1959)) on keyboards and occasionally on vocals.
The longevity of their career is generally attributed to their ability to create melodic pop/dance music with intelligent lyrics and striking style. They are one of the most consistently successful duos in pop music, particularly in Europe. Since 1986 (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/1986), they have had 38 top 40 singles in the UK including four number ones: "West End girls (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/West_End_girls)", "It's a sin (http://en.wikipedia.org/w/index.php?title=It%27s_a_sin&action=edit)", "Always on my mind (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Always_on_My_Mind)" and "Heart (http://en.wikipedia.org/w/index.php?title=Heart_%28Pet_Shop_Boys_song%29&action=edit)". Their popularity is still prevalent through their very active and devoted fan base.
Their latest album, Fundamental (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Fundamental_%28Pet_Shop_Boys_album%29)</I>, was released on the Parlophone (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Parlophone) label on 22 May (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/May_22) 2006 (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/2006). The album so far has charted at number five in the UK and at number two in Europe-wide sales, marking a strong return to the charts. The album's first single, "I'm with Stupid (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/I%27m_with_Stupid_%28song%29)" was released in the UK on 8 May (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/May_8) 2006 (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/2006), reaching number eight in the UK Singles Chart (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/UK_Singles_Chart). The second single to be taken from Fundamental will be "Minimal (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Minimal_%28song%29)", which received its first UK play on BBC Radio 1 on 19 May (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/May_19), and will be released on 24 July (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/July_24), 2006.

Ronson made his name as a DJ on the New York club scene. He was soon one of the most respected DJs and was being called on for celebrities' private parties. He moved on, however, to producing music. After producing [U]Nikka Costa (http://www.purerobbie.com/)'s "Everybody Got Their Something," Ronson signed a record contract with Elektra Records (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Elektra_Records). RWT = Robbie Williams Turkey
F-S = Fans Supreme
RWOZ= Robbie Williams Oz
RWL = Robbie Williams live

Sheps 06-27-2006, 01:28 PM thanks shell. your so helpful. xx
Laura 06-27-2006, 01:30 PM I post on TRWS sometimes as kes102458, but not too much. Too busy here. I find that site confusing with all the banners and signatures. Hard to see what is the post and what isn't. This site is MUCH easier and have some nice friends so I stay here mostly.
shell 06-27-2006, 01:42 PM I find that site confusing with all the banners and signatures. Hard to see what is the post and what isn't.
That's one of the main things noticed whilst researching prelaunch - it also really slows the site down too - hence why we have nice and tidy avatures here - avature = half avatar and half signature = clean threads that are fast loading :D

i love it here. i just thought i'd have a nosey to see what everybody is talking about. i don't do complicated so i probably won't bother.
--Nat-- 06-27-2006, 01:42 PM Manu Chao! Cool...When this rumour is true, I'm getting curious for this new album.... Loads of different sounds then.
Laura 06-27-2006, 01:46 PM Well keep up the good work it is appreciated. the threads are also easier to find here. There "table of contents" is confusing also. Kuddos to you Shell for a great job
shell 06-27-2006, 02:01 PM Always good to hear the team are working well and getting things right for members... its all we wanted :)

I browsed thru lots of sites but never posted till I found PR .:)
TheMissus 06-27-2006, 03:23 PM I post a bit on fans-supreme and occasionally on rwap. But I can't keep away from here. I don't know if its coz I joined fairly soon after it 'opened' but it just feels like home http://www.cheesebuerger.de/images/midi/liebe/a054.gif
Hollie 06-27-2006, 03:27 PM I too hope that this isn't the rumor mill gone mad... However Rob did once say that it wouldn't be a proper Christmas without a new Robbie album... :)
TheMissus 06-27-2006, 03:30 PM I think there is definitely an album. Too many people have talked about it (eg the pet shop boys, Stephen Duffy). I just don't trust the release date etc.
And it still seems strange that he would release this while still out on the road with Intensive Care. I mean, are the concerts at the end of the tour going to get the new stuff???
So much for it being annonymous too.
Laura 06-27-2006, 03:32 PM Maybe some will be ready by the time he gets to MK. That would be exciting.
livylivy 06-27-2006, 04:16 PM thanx thanx thanx shell 4 all the informationsand the links u wrote !!now i ll take a look at them....but i knew he s releasing his 4th single from intensive care on august....i think it is too early releasing 1974 on 18th september isn t?
maybe i m wrong about the 4th single releasing...
kisses
suze2 06-27-2006, 04:26 PM Thanks for that Shell. Can't wait. I know what i'll be asking for my birthday:yahoo:
tasha 06-27-2006, 06:15 PM Well IF IT IS TRUE what a month September will be: MK and a new Album
Agree, with missus, what happened to Intensive Care? Love the album and his best by far.
On the subject of other forums, I think because I joined here while this site was new this has become my home though I still "read" the other sites but admit I never post much on them.
paula 06-27-2006, 06:46 PM I can never seem to get round other forums , i class purrobbie as my home !
shell 06-27-2006, 06:47 PM I visit a few of my fave robbie sites everyday, fans supreme, robbie williams italy and turkey, born entertainer and trws - i wish i had more time to join in but they all bring alot to the table - i cant believe some of the great reporting by staff and members that goes on :) puts the tabloids to shame :D

lindylou 06-27-2006, 08:01 PM My wedding anniversary is 18th Sept, so guess what i'll be asking for! Pure Robbie is well the best site. You keep us so up to date don't need to go anywhere else!
Intensive_Care 06-27-2006, 08:51 PM this is weird coz i heard from intensive care that hes releasing a place to crash and ghosts in august but he cant b releasing rudebox aswell!!!
I believe nothing unless it's from the "horses mouth".
8-)
Know what you mean, I'd be surprised if this were true it would be really quick considering Intensive care only came out not that long ago.
Don't know where the news has come from:confused:
myteddy 06-28-2006, 04:17 AM Exciting, great, awsome... Can't wait for the new album. :aussy: :aus: (PS: You don't have the Portuguese flag.)

SpookyGal 06-28-2006, 07:32 AM Well I think it's really good dance music. If the man wants to try something new, I say let him! lol
Excellent, I like too,
also (aside from that) like We Are Your Friends which was played by Chris CoCo in Dublin before the gig, great choon!
stuntgirl 06-28-2006, 08:16 AM I love it!!
I listen to Pete Tong every friday and never realised that this gem (Rudebox) was mr Williams!
Good work, got a touch of kraftwork and early brit electro.
Bring it on!

haha I think I did listen to radio 1 ;) ...now listening to the right one
mies10 06-28-2006, 08:53 AM Oh think it's a nice song....like it!
Vicky D 06-28-2006, 09:15 AM Well there we have it! And it all figures ...as Pete Tong said its a song by a mystery artist and that is our Rob, albeit for about 15 seconds of vocals.
This is what he said he was going to do with his dance album, bring it out under a mystery name to attract a different audience until it was released and that was definately him.
It makes me agree even more with Shells comment on a 'planned leak' as it just all seems too much of a coincidence with this air play and the leaked info. A clever move by Rob camp indeed!
As for the tune, I think it is good. Would need to be partying with my mates to gain maximum enjoyment of this kind of music. It not exactly an 'ironing tune'!
Good on ya Rob for exploring different genres ......wonder where he will go to next?
churchmouse 06-28-2006, 09:46 AM Well, that's our Rob, no question. I LOVE IT!!!
(so I guess that is "from the horses mouth" then)http://i8.photobucket.com/albums/a26/lisachurchman/Smileys/party.gif
Thanx for the link!
Very different!
Vicky D 06-28-2006, 11:10 AM Just had the all important '2nd listen' to this track (the one where you have heard it before and now you are making your mind up) and I'm loving it!
Sheps 06-28-2006, 11:19 AM can't work out how to listen to it. will have to wait till hubby comes home tonight, he's better at these things than me. not very pc literate i'm ashamed to say.
shell 06-28-2006, 11:22 AM sheps have you got real player installed?
Sheps 06-28-2006, 11:42 AM sheps have you got real player installed?
hi shell, i had a go at loading it put i still couldn't get it to play
xlollyx 06-28-2006, 12:34 PM Hi Shell
Still no luck, tried loads of times now.
SpookyGal 06-28-2006, 12:35 PM For those of you who can't listen to the radio I've uploaded the song here:
http://www.yousendit.com/transfer.php?action=download&ufid=E0F6D8E454B72730
The BBC site is kinda protected so you can't use a recording program through your PC. I used my mp3 player to record it so the sound might not be absolutely perfect.
Laura 06-28-2006, 12:39 PM Not sure what to think of it. NOt the music I normally listen to. Who did he colaborate with on that song? Want to hear more. I will give it a chance.:)
xlollyx 06-28-2006, 12:41 PM Tried it on my sons pc and still cant play it!!!
shell 06-28-2006, 12:43 PM Cant you download it from Spooky's link Lolly?
thanks Spooky btw :)
xlollyx 06-28-2006, 01:03 PM Thankyou Spooky & Shell, I have now listened to it, mmmm maybe it will grow on me!!!!
mousepractice 06-28-2006, 01:13 PM Very bizarre, and hes hardly on it! Im sure Ive heard that bit he sings at the end before tho, anyone remember it?
Vicky D 06-28-2006, 01:26 PM Dunno? ....but his 15 seconds of vocals could have been lifted straight out of a Pet Shop Boys song.
Sheps 06-28-2006, 01:38 PM thanks for that spookygal i was having trouble downloading it myself. i really love it. i'm sure it will go down a storm in the dance clubs. i agree about his vocals very pet shop boys.
shell 06-28-2006, 01:39 PM It sounds very Orbesque to me.
I cant wait for him to speak about this new project... because i'm wondering if he played a part in the music side too, mixing, producing etc... i'm guessing he's played a big part in it otherwise the songs would be by mr x featuring Robbie Williams... would they not?
Sheps 06-28-2006, 01:40 PM i agree
TheMissus 06-28-2006, 01:58 PM I'm on the third listen now, and it is a grower. Although, as Vicky D said, its definitely not an "ironing song"
Laura 06-28-2006, 02:02 PM I would need something like that to get ME to iron.
TheMissus 06-28-2006, 02:03 PM http://www.cheesebuerger.de/images/more/bigs/c008.gif
Laura 06-28-2006, 02:04 PM I put on a wrinkled t-shirt today and said to my daughter I guess they would iron this in Engalnd.
shell 06-28-2006, 02:08 PM LOL coffee over monitor :D
tasha 06-28-2006, 05:13 PM Listening now!!!
tasha 06-28-2006, 05:22 PM Well this is not really my sort of music so dont know what to say. I think it can definately be a "grower". Like songs with more lyrics. I think its great that he has a go at all sorts of music styles. Definately would like to hear the rest of the album. Didnt he say in one of his blogs that he has just go into dance music so maybe this is why he has decided to have a go himself?
--Nat-- 06-28-2006, 06:30 PM For my feeling it dates back to the early years...I don't know...listening now for the second time...
Yes i think he "discovered" the dance music and thought I want to do that! He had probably the sound he wanted in his head ( a bit of a dated sound:-) just like intensive Care) I think he succeeded on the sound. If I like it? Don't know, maybe in some moods. In the wrong mood it annoys me I think.
Great to have the link here btw!
Vicky D 06-28-2006, 06:45 PM Ok guys..... so here is a question.
We have all had a listen and given our first impressions, but will we as fans of RW as a result of his current music, be buying his new album with material made up of this genre of music??
Would we
A) Buy it because its Robbie, not really our thing, and if it was anyone else we wouldn't bother?
B) Buy it because its Robbie and we love it?
C) Pass on this one because it's really not your kind of music?
D) Haven't decided yet and need to hear a few more songs?
I'm really interested to know because it would answer the question of what sells music....the artist or the material?
I'm going to try and work out how to set up a poll to gather our answers!
paula 06-28-2006, 06:49 PM well i would like to go for D but it is Robbie so i must go for B
Vicky D 06-28-2006, 06:52 PM Ok guys..... so here is a question.

shell 06-28-2006, 06:56 PM Well i was thinking about this earlier too and i asked myself why i liked his music.. and its the lyrics, the irony and honesty in them.. the great tunes are a bonus :)
When i listened to the song a few times i missed him singing, and after his 15 seconds interlude i was left wanting more - i ended up adding escapology to my playlist...
would i 'buy' it - i dont think so going on that track.. but we'll see
What i do think could happen is a new generation of Robbie fans, fans into dance music but they'd know a different Robbie to us - afterall how the hell is he going to 'perform' these songs? the new fans wont know Rob the entertainer... which imo is going to be odd... i dunno...
My jury is still out - bit confused and bemused :)
Vicky D 06-28-2006, 07:04 PM Phew! Just managed to get my first poll up.
Put it in this section to catch the people reading this thread.
Pop your answers in there girls and if everyone is honest it is going to make some interesting reading.
xxshexed_upxx 06-28-2006, 07:08 PM Is that his tune!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?
Hmm....bit weird, bit strange but has a gd beat 2 it
Thats something id never thought id hear coming from Robbie!

paula 06-28-2006, 08:00 PM just listened again and i am really not sure im 50/50 on it , the sound is so different to what we usualley hear from the Robster ..
Voted - (Haven't decided yet & need to hear a few more songs first) http://www.cheesebuerger.de/images/smilie/konfus/k055.gif
And official confirmation of course that it is Robbie http://www.cheesebuerger.de/images/smilie/konfus/n020.gif
Think it sounds good. Looking forward to hearing the others
Laura 06-28-2006, 08:25 PM Love the Pet Shop Boys and his collaberations with Stephen Duffy have been good so there might be enough good songs to make it worth it.
churchmouse 06-28-2006, 09:12 PM For those of you who can't listen to the radio I've uploaded the song here:
http://www.yousendit.com/transfer.php?action=download&ufid=E0F6D8E454B72730
The BBC site is kinda protected so you can't use a recording program through your PC. I used my mp3 player to record it so the sound might not be absolutely perfect.
There is a way ;) try this it's high quality (my son did it for me):)
http://www.yousendit.com/transfer.php?action=download&ufid=20DD1E7D380345B7
This is (and don't quote me on this ) apparently a re-mix of the single which will have vocals throughout.
The Robbie vocal and melody that is heard from time to time is Sly Dunbar & Robbies Shakespeare's "Boops (Here we go)". (It was driving me mad as I knew I'd heard it somewhere before. Fortunately MrA knew it straight away :D )
I love it!!
I listen to Pete Tong every friday and never realised that this gem (Rudebox) was mr Williams!
Good work, got a touch of kraftwork and early brit electro.
Bring it on!
:lr:
listened to it again, excellent! defo tell its him thou near the end distinctive voice comes thru! still on white label thou might ask my mate to see if he can get a copy hes a dj
plus the way pete tong says its a "mystery artist" at the end!!
Sheps 06-28-2006, 09:48 PM robs always saying he likes to " test his steel ". ( have i got that saying right ). sort of setting himself up to fail ( which of course he never does ) a bit like when he did swing when your winning before all that kind of music became popular again. i think he's doing the same again, testing himself. or maybe he's trying to attract a different, younger following. which ever way i'm sure it will be a hit. i wonder if he will bring it out under his own name or a Pseudonym.
Loleia7 06-28-2006, 10:41 PM The version that you are all listening to is a dub remix of Rudebox - just a taster for the fans and the radio stations - thats why you can only hear Robbie singing two lines or so
The full original version will be released where he sings all the way through - but it will still be a dance track - just a bit different from what you are hearing at the moment
churchmouse 06-28-2006, 10:54 PM Well, the more I listen the more I love it.
churchmouse 06-28-2006, 11:04 PM Do you know anything about the other tracks Loleia7?
mousepractice 06-29-2006, 07:00 AM Thank god its a remix! Knew Id heard that bit of Robs before, it was driving me crazy!
shell 06-29-2006, 08:26 AM I'm really looking forward to hearing the proper versions with full vocals. I collect Rob's remixes, i love Coco's spin on Sin Sin Sin so if its full lyrics and great beats he's onto a winner :)
Vicky D 06-29-2006, 08:38 AM I'm really looking forward to hearing the proper versions with full vocals. I collect Rob's remixes, i love Coco's spin on Sin Sin Sin so if its full lyrics and great beats he's onto a winner :)
Ditto this Shell. Having just read the last few postings I am really very excited about all this new material now.
As for Chris Coco's mix of Sin Sin Sin I actually like it more than the original Sin Sin Sin now!

Vicky D 06-29-2006, 08:52 AM hi is there a download of chris coco's mix of sin sin sin anywhere ??
I wish there was and you can't buy it off the official site. I've got it on the DVD single which I can't seem to save on my laptop and therefore my itunes. Nightmare cos I love it!
Someone might be able to help from the more techy minded amoungst us!
Tell me a way to get it onto my pc and I can post it up.
paula 06-29-2006, 08:58 AM I wouldn't have a clue vicky !!! i get confused when it comes to stuff like this .
maybe missus will know !!
Kathi M 06-29-2006, 09:25 AM I've got to say it is... different. not to say 'interesting'. I like dancemusic, when I am dancing but it is not something I could listen to on a daily bases, like most of his other songs...
I have a bit of a problem with experiements... I didn't like radio either.
But I'll wait for some more songs, so I'm definatly D
:guitar:
paula 06-29-2006, 09:33 AM loving coco's mix i really like this version so i bet i could really get in to his dance music !!!

paula 06-29-2006, 09:37 AM yeh i cant wait !!!!
really do like that version of sin sin sin , i think it's better than the one on the album !
I really do need an i pod!

I've got the dvd single too - not sure how you get the audio bit off it - have to get investigating again http://www.cheesebuerger.de/images/smilie/haushalt/d050.gif
As for Rude Box - I have also heard that this is just a remix. Looking forward to hearing the proper version before i decide on buying it (but hell, I probably will anyway :o )
Teresa 06-29-2006, 12:17 PM Not really sure about it. Myte be a growner with time like tripping was. Hated it when i first heard it, now i love it!! Thanx for the song whoever upload it :D
Hm.. This is not my "cup of tea" But i'm stupid, so i'll buy it..
Becs08 06-29-2006, 03:40 PM Actually liked the Rudebox song! Can't wait to hear more!! :)
snowpea 06-29-2006, 04:56 PM I had a listen to the track and wasn't too keen on it, although I would be interested to hear more since I am a fan of Stephen Duffy and Mark Ronson. Love his remix of Just by Radiohead!
Funny thing is the song reminded me of a "gay disco" in L.A.! go figure ;-)
Loleia7 06-29-2006, 07:52 PM Hi Churchmouse,
Dont have anymore info on the Songs at the moment although you may all get a suprise collaboration on there and Im not talking about the Pet Shop Boys! but in fact a very big female star who's also worked with a certain Mr.Orbit!
Nothing confirmed but its a possibility as he did recently have a chat with this woman a while back
Can you all guess who Im talking about????????
Loleia7 06-29-2006, 07:54 PM Plus with this new material he will be dancing in the vids so you all get too see Rob bump and grind = now whats better than that - hes so damn sexy!
churchmouse 06-29-2006, 11:08 PM Madonna then.
churchmouse 06-29-2006, 11:21 PM Surely not, she can't sing! (in my humble opinion) Don't get m,e wrong I love some of madonna's songs but have you heard her live?
Laura 06-29-2006, 11:25 PM Surely not, she can't sing! (in my humble opinion) Don't get m,e wrong I love some of madonna's songs but have you heard her live?
I'm with you churchmouse, never been a Madonna fan.:(
Loleia7 06-30-2006, 12:42 AM I have heard her live and she's not the best vocalist but her overall deliverance is not that bad - shes professional enough in an unprofessional way - that said and although I love the pants off him our Robert has given a few dubious vocals in the past like on shows such as Top Of the Pops etc - not in concert though. I guess sometimes he just puts his mind to it and when he does so he's extremely good - for example if you listen to his recent cover of the Pet Shop Boys song jealousy at a secret gig they recorded in May - he sounded very professional
I think his poor vocal on occassion has something to do with not being bothered or perhaps his voice may tire which is also a possibility.
Anyway a duet with Madonna wouldnt be such a bad thing - it could be a massive hit and could be good if they got the right song.
We shall wait and see........
Loleia7 06-30-2006, 12:43 AM If anyone would like the link for the Pet Shop boys gig to hear Robbie singing just let me know and I will put the link up here!
Laura 06-30-2006, 02:40 AM YOu are so right about the song he covered for Pet Shop Boys it is now a favorite of mine. About the rest everyone has an off day. Madonna is so popular I suppose it couldn't hurt either one of them if it was done right. It could help his popularity in the US.:D
lindylou 06-30-2006, 06:35 AM I'm not sure, hard to judge when youv'e only heard the club mix, looking forward to hearing the proper version!
mousepractice 06-30-2006, 06:58 AM If anyone would like the link for the Pet Shop boys gig to hear Robbie singing just let me know and I will put the link up here!
That'd be great, if you could. Thanks!
churchmouse 06-30-2006, 09:07 AM Out of all the collaborations mentioned on this album a Madonna one does the least for me  But, never say never, the proof of the pudding and all that.
We sit and wait with baited breath. :tw:
kleinhond 06-30-2006, 09:28 AM Lovelight Lyrics:
I’ve always hated my room
it’s so gloomy and dreary
always too dark for the
windows just face the backyard
so I can’t understand
how it’s happened
how everything’s changin’
this old dirty ceiling
seems a little whiter
when you walked into the room
it all got so much brighter
you must have a
Lovelight
everything around you is lovelight
’n I can feel your love anywhere
baby, even when you’re not there
but lovelight
everything around you is lovelight
you’re shinin’ like a star in the night
I won’t let you out of my sight
I don’t wanna lose you
I don’t wanna lose your lovelight
How I remember the first time
we went to a movie
we had decided
to meet on a corner downtown
and I waited there
when you came up from behind
then you kissed me
and the traffic seemed
to get a little lighter
when you came into my life
it all got so much brighter
you must have a
Lovelight
everything around you is lovelight
’n I can feel your love anywhere
baby, even when you’re not there
but lovelight
everything around you is lovelight
you’re shinin’ like a star in the night
I won’t let you out of my sight
I don’t wanna lose you
I don’t wanna lose your lovelight
And I feel so good
and I feel so fine
and I know that
you must have a lovelight
You got lovelight
’n I can feel your love anywhere
baby, even when you’re not there
but lovelight
everything around you is lovelight
you’re shinin’ like a star in the night
I won’t let you out of my sight
I don’t wanna lose you
I don’t wanna lose your lovelight
Everything about you is right
let it glow and let it be bright
I don’t want to lose your lovelight
shining like a star in the night
Pet Shop Boys have produced (and co-written) one new track and one cover version for Robbie's new album. They also have worked with David Bowie (who used to refer to himself as The Actor in the early 70s) and Madonna, on Sorry earlier this year. (hint hint). Madonna's first ever concert was David Bowie's Diamond Dogs... in 1974!
kleinhond 06-30-2006, 09:36 AM If anyone would like the link for the Pet Shop boys gig to hear Robbie singing just let me know and I will put the link up here!
Yes please.
churchmouse 06-30-2006, 09:47 AM yeah, they worked with Bowie on "hallo spaceboy". Fantastic track.
I think bowie was known as the 'cracked actor' kleinhond. (Sorry, massive bowie fan here.)
Thanks for the lyrics, we just need the music to go with it. :cc:
Laura 06-30-2006, 12:16 PM I saw Bowie in concert in the late 70's quite a show he was fabulous.
churchmouse 06-30-2006, 12:28 PM Wow, in the 70's (you're showing your age there mate :D ) a great era for Bowie.
I saw him in the 80's, 90's and 00's (naughties?). Always amazing. THE most incredible, versatile voice I have ever heard (sorry Rob).

You're welcome mate, sounds like Lovelight is a great track by all accounts.
As for Bowie, well the BBC did produce a TV documentary on him in the year of RW's birth, 1974, called Cracked Actor (named after a song on Aladdin Sane, this classic programme followed DB on his Diamond Dogs tour of the US, which Madonna still raves about even now!) but he wasn't referring to himself as that.
On the 1970 album Hunky Dory he gave himself a co-producer's credit which read 'Produced by Ken Scott (assisted by The Actor)' and before he became Ziggy Stardust this is how he referred to himself. He always was a bit of an actor in the theatrical sense, well before he got into movies - and I think Rob's taken a leaf out of Bowie's book. RW has of course covered both Bowie and PSB songs as B-sides. In fact Kooks is from the aforementioned Hunky Dory! Possibly Bowie's finest album of the early/mid 70s.
Loleia7 06-30-2006, 01:03 PM Dear All,
If any of you have B-side/rare song requests for Robbie material I would be more than delighted to share them with you all or any footage you may be after. Im uploading the PSB gig from May at the moment - takes a bit of time but another 10mins or so should do it ;)
churchmouse 06-30-2006, 01:06 PM On the 1970 album Hunky Dory he gave himself a co-producer's credit which read 'Produced by Ken Scott (assisted by The Actor)'
Well, well, you learn something new every day. I never noticed that before.
Hunky Dory is one of my favorites too, especially during my teenage years "And if the homework brings you down, then we'll throw it on the fire, and take the car downtown"
:D Not :ot: are we?
Laura 06-30-2006, 01:11 PM Wow, in the 70's (you're showing your age there mate :D ) a great era for Bowie.

:) You weren't suppose to notice that!:( It was right after he stopped doing the really weird clothes etc. Don't remember a lot to be honest but do remember enjoying it. Smooth sound to his voice. Fairly small venue good seats.
churchmouse 06-30-2006, 01:21 PM That's kind of you Loleia7.
I think a lot of us already have the "besides CD" but personally I still haven't been able to hear the recent chris coco re-mix of sin sin sin. The problem is we often don't know what we haven't got because we don't know what there is, if you know what I mean.
I've also been on the lookout for the radio 1 gig he did to promote IC, it was only on 'listen again' for a week and I forgot to copy it.
kleinhond 06-30-2006, 01:24 PM Dear All,

I'd love Kooks, We Are The Champions and I Wouldn't Normally Do.....
Loleia7 06-30-2006, 01:24 PM Ok people here we go - enjoy:
http://rapidshare.de/files/24558360/Pet_Shop_Boys_-_Live_In_Concert_At_The_Mermaid_Theatre_May_8th_20 06__Radio_2_.mp3.html
Loleia7 06-30-2006, 01:25 PM I will upload those songs when I get home! Enjoy PSB for now - he's on towards the end at 1.05 or thereabouts
kleinhond 06-30-2006, 01:26 PM Great. How do I find this gig?
churchmouse 06-30-2006, 01:33 PM Thanks, (have to download it later I'm on the 'wrong' computer atm)
churchmouse 06-30-2006, 02:21 PM They also have worked with David Bowie (who used to refer to himself as The Actor in the early 70s) and Madonna, on Sorry earlier this year. (hint hint). Madonna's first ever concert was David Bowie's Diamond Dogs... in 1974!
Just dawned on me the relevance of this (the track name 'the actor') Duh.
I am a lady of certain years and can be a bit slow sometimes :o :cof:
I thought that "1974" would be referring to rob's birth year; no?
churchmouse 06-30-2006, 02:29 PM Rude box is also available to 'listen again' on the Radio 1 Annie Mac show, where the begining doesn't get talked over quite so much.
http://www.bbc.co.uk/radio1/anniemac/index.shtml (thurs 29th 33 mins in.)
He says on there that it's a soul mekanik mix, any info anyone?
kleinhond 06-30-2006, 02:49 PM I thought that "1974" would be referring to rob's birth year; no?
Yes I'm sure it is but I was just pointing out the links between RW, PSB, DB and M!
In 1974 Bowie released Diamond Dogs which contains PSB Neil Tennant's all time favourite song fom his favourite singer (Sweet Thing) and the tour which was filmed for the BBC's Cracked Actor was attended by M - it was the first gig she ever went to and she says "he blew my mind. I've never seen anything more exciting since."
Loleia7 06-30-2006, 04:46 PM I know he had a meeting with Madonna not too long ago. I made the suggestion in September 05 that he should perhaps consider recording a dance album and come Christmas he was in the studio doing just that!
kleinhond 06-30-2006, 05:54 PM Do you think they shagged?
Laura 06-30-2006, 05:56 PM Noooo
mousepractice 06-30-2006, 06:42 PM EEEwwwww!!!
Loleia7 06-30-2006, 06:49 PM I would doubt there was anything physical between them - she is married afterall
Hes not going to be sleeping with every woman he meets and just because he may work with her does not mean that he has slept with her
Loleia7 06-30-2006, 06:51 PM I think that your all gettin a bit off the point with this anyway - noting that the thread is in relation to his new dance album
churchmouse 06-30-2006, 07:26 PM Do you think they shagged?

churchmouse 06-30-2006, 07:30 PM Oh, I think going a little :ot: is allowed here (ehem, as long as it's tasteful :monkey: ).
Loleia7 06-30-2006, 07:52 PM ok then!
churchmouse 06-30-2006, 08:00 PM http://i8.photobucket.com/albums/a26/lisachurchman/Smileys/36_1_11.gif I think it was a joke anyway

how did you find that video hun? what keywords did you use?
TheMissus 07-02-2006, 02:35 PM I dunno - could be really clever advertising. Can just see Rob doing something like this http://www.cheesebuerger.de/images/more/bigs/c008.gif Using the internet to its fullest potential
Laura 07-02-2006, 02:37 PM hopefully using different people than those involved in official site.:(
shell 07-02-2006, 02:38 PM why doesnt he just come to his fansites for feedback etc?
Laura 07-02-2006, 02:39 PM good question.
TheMissus 07-02-2006, 02:42 PM how do we know he doesn't http://www.cheesebuerger.de/images/midi/konfus/a010.gif
there are always loads of youtube clips on the fan sites - what better way to get your new song heard than stick your own clip on there?
Laura 07-02-2006, 02:43 PM In his books he talks about googling himself and looking up things so I bet he does. Or has people do it for him. HI ROB>

I just searched "rudebox" in youtube shell.
I get the feeling it's all like those 'teaser' adverts in the uk a while back. Get the buzz going, place info on various forums and off it goes.
Very clever and I'm loving it. Can't wait for the next snippet of info.
I'm still not sure what the website is asking for, I assume videos as I have now found on http://www.robbiewilliamslive.com/ the video AND a link to email the site to "send us your rudebox".
Who will actually make a video and send it is another question (?)
Laura 07-02-2006, 03:52 PM very interesting .I hope we get to see the "entries". Could be a good laugh.
churchmouse 07-02-2006, 03:52 PM why doesnt he just come to his fansites for feedback etc?
I don't know about HIM but I get the feeling we not alone!!!!
churchmouse 07-02-2006, 03:57 PM very interesting .I hope we get to see the "entries". Could be a good laugh.
Absolutely
The only problem is whoever wanted to make a video would need a soundtrack ie MP3. So will we get that soon maybe (instead of just radio play) *she askes hopefully* ???
Laura 07-02-2006, 04:03 PM I couldn't find anything on the official site where is it?

He also mentions that people mailed in to say who it was but he still can't say, well not until next week.
