ROBBIE Williams will put his touring career on hold after a farewell gig in Melbourne.
Williams' world tour will end in Australia in December, with Melbourne the last stop.
He will play at Telstra Dome on December 17, with tickets on sale from June 6 at Ticketmaster.
"I'm not going to tour for a long time after this tour," Williams said.
"For me this tour is a year-long celebration of what I've achieved as a solo artist. It comes in the form of getting on stage in stadiums.
"After that I'll say thank you very much. It's not something I want to do again for a long time." Williams' 2006 world tour has sold out at stadiums throughout Europe and Britain. The tour set a world record last year by selling more than 1.6 million tickets in a single day, beating a record held by 'N Sync. The tour is expected to be seen by 2.5 million people this year. Australian promoter Michael Chugg said Williams would bring the full overseas production down under. The show features a stage that snakes into the crowd, bringing Williams close to fans.

shell 05-17-2006, 07:12 AM But it's obviously his last tour for a while, he'll need to write, record, release and promote a new album first before he can even think about touring with it...
''Escapology'' was his last album, ''What we did last summer'' was his last tour http://www.cheesebuerger.de/images/smilie/frech/c015.gif http://www.cheesebuerger.de/images/smilie/frech/c015.gif http://www.cheesebuerger.de/images/smilie/frech/c015.gif

.....and lets not forget, have a personal life! The poor chap has got no hope of finding that special lady and settling down if he is charging around the world performing all the time.
Thanks for a wonderful year Rob and have a well deserved rest .......but come back after it!
TheMissus 05-17-2006, 08:54 AM sorry - but after the fiasco that this tours caused, I am not surprised he doesnt want to do it again

my words exactley:p
Kathi M 05-17-2006, 12:33 PM He might be a little down after all the trouble. that's ok. Or he just remembered that touring is not a lot of fun. But honestly, i have heard exatly this statement about 50 times. that mgiht just mean he needs a break. and that's ok too. I'll rather have him not touring so much but healthy and happy.
Last but not least, while his accountant screwed up, touring is not about the accountant, it is about the fans. And it should be enjoyable work. No work is always nice, but hey, I think he'll come back. He loves it, even if it's not 100%great. music is his life and touring once in a while is part of that.
how long is 'a long time' anyways?

Exactly - not everything is his own personal fault!
sarahgillian 05-17-2006, 02:58 PM Go on robbie, you deserve a well earned rest!
Can't wait to see him in September:D
joanne 05-17-2006, 04:29 PM I hate to be Job's comforter here but I wouldnt be suprised if it wasnt his last tour. He constantly says how stressful he finds it and he cant keep putting on the type of performance he does now as he is going to be a bit old for that sort of energy in a few years of time (his words not mine) maybe he will do something very different to get his live performance kicks...
paula 05-17-2006, 04:30 PM I think he will just take a break then come back for more!!
joanne 05-17-2006, 04:58 PM I do hope so, as I certainly arent ready to stop going to see him!!!
paula 05-17-2006, 05:01 PM no me neither + my daughter is dying to go see him but i told her she has to wait a couple of years !!
i was gunna take her to soccer aid with me but there is a group of us going and i think it will be a bit rowdy for her !!!!+ i will be really drunk
joanne 05-17-2006, 05:02 PM ha ha the only way to be
Connie 05-21-2006, 02:51 AM yeah, next tour in 2009!
Laura 05-21-2006, 03:20 AM And we'll be there Connie
sparkle 05-21-2006, 07:03 AM He will deserve a rest by the end of the year. If it his last tour, I am so glad I will finally actually get to see him. Have been a fan ever since he went solo and never ever got the opportunity to go see him live before.
--Nat-- 05-23-2006, 01:08 PM I don?t care if he wants some time off after this tour, I can understand that. But I?m not amused when he quits the live-entertaining business. Live on stage he does what he can do the best. I think we?ll have a lot less Robbie with only his studio albums. The live albums are so much more energizing?
nina loves robbie 07-02-2009, 08:59 AM i hope the CE tour was not his last tour i want to see him again
