A BIG CONCERTS MUSIC PRESENTATION BY ARRANGEMENT WITH X ray AND ie: music
As most South Africans wait with bated breath, and others still lament over not securing tickets, we are delighted to announce that British music phenomenon The Wire Daisies have been booked to support the record-breaking Robbie Williams South African tour next month. Also performing at this extraordinary show is one of South Africa?s most successful groups, Freshlyground.
Robbie jets into the country for his first performance at the ABSA Stadium in Durban on the 10th of April, before moving down to the Green Point Stadium in Cape Town, on the 13th, and finally up to the Loftus Versfeld Stadium in Pretoria on the 17th.
Tickets to the Cape Town and Pretoria legs of the tour were sold-out within 5 hours of going on sale, breaking all records imaginable. In fact, tickets in every country on his upcoming world-tour were sold-out within a few hours, earning Robbie a place in the Guinness Book of World Records!
Fellow Brits, The Wire Daisies are a talented four-piece, which successfully combine their love of old school singer song-writing with energy of today?s British rock. Some might remember lead singer, Treana Morris singing at the 2003 Nelson Mandela 46664 AIDS Concert. The band, consisting of Treana Morris (lead vocals), Ol Beach (keyboards), Steve Jackson (drums) and Alden Evans (lead Guitar), were signed in 2004 and went on to perform at the International Montreux Jazz and Womad festivals along with Air, Jamie Cullum and Alicia Keys. Their debut album, ?Just Another Day? went straight to No. 1 in the French and UK iTunes charts, with the stunningly beautiful ?Everyman?, hitting a weekly radio audience of 11 million people. This was followed by an invitation to perform alongside James Blunt at the Digital Music Awards. Their superbly crafted songs perfectly catch the sound of this year?s hot summer nights.
The hot summer nights just wouldn?t be the same without the also perfectly crafted, and catchy hit ?Doo Be Doo?! A favourite amongst a diverse spread of radio stations and their listeners, ?Doo Be Doo? is the hit off Freshlyground?s second album, the platinum-selling ?Nomvula?. Freshlyground, made up of seven talented and diverse musicians from South Africa, Mozambique and Zimbabwe, is one of South Africa?s most successful young acts. Fronted by the dynamic Zolani Mahola, the band is Peter Cohen (drums), Josh Hawks (bass), Julio Sigauque (guitar), Aron Turest-Swartz (keyboards), Simon Attwell (flute, mbira, sax and harmonica) and Kyla Rose Smith (violin). They exude a live performance energy that has been the bedrock of their success, and seen them playing numerous music festivals including the Harare International Festival of the Arts, the North Sea Jazz Festival, the Villa Celimontana Festival in Rome, the 2005 Expo in Japan, the Robben Island African Festival, and the big Oppikoppi ?Wired? festival. They were also asked to play before President Thabo Mbeki at the opening of Parliament on the eve of celebrating 10 years of democracy in South Africa!
Following the highly infectious and undeniably groovy sounds of our very own Freshlyground, and the old school, superbly crafted songs by The Wire Daisies, the musical magician Robbie Williams will be working his crowds with real emotion and consummate skill, belting out hit after hit from his multi-platinum selling albums, including Intensive Care, his latest. This is one of the most highly anticipated concert tours of our time!

Extract from a long article about Durban:
The space between
Published: Apr 20, 2008
When Robbie Williams toured SA in 2006, hardly anyone pitched up to the Durban leg. In fact, it’s possibly the only Robbie Williams concert in the entire world that didn’t sell out within hours. Conversely, an obscure Michael Frayn play called Copenhagen, about a meeting between two nuclear physicists, was an overwhelming success and had Durbanites queuing in the rain for a ticket.
